Have you seen this?! If you happen to be in Northern Italy before July 3rd, head over to Lake Iseo in the Lombardy region to see conceptual artist Cristo's latest installation "The Floating Piers." The floating walkway is made of yellow-orange nylon that is designed to change color based on the time of the day and weather. It stretches 3 kilometers to connect two small islands to the mainland and will open for free to the public, 24 hours a day under the supervision of lifeguards and monitoring boats.
The project concept is 46 years in the making but was realized in just 22 months thanks to a close collaboration between the artist, local officials and craftsman.
If you have the opportunity to experience it, we would love to hear your impressions!
